Welcome to Auckland Asian Association
Auckland Asian Association adopted “Bamboo plant” as its philosophical model. Bamboo is commonly found in Asia. It represents sustainability, renewability, versatility and resilience. It provides for understanding of Asian values and aspirations. Two Asian proverbs “Be like bamboo. The higher you grow, the deeper you bow.” “The bamboo that bends is stronger than the oak that resists.”
Auckland Asian Association is a New Zealand Incorporated Society, a non-profit organisation established on 14th of March,2014. The main purpose of AAA is to enhance and empower the social well-being of Asian in Auckland by providing community development, advocacy and support services, social change education and training programs.
AAA vision is to be the premier and leading organization towards representing the collective voices of Asian community in Auckland. By combining Asian diverse skills, talents and resources to support our community objectives, AAA strives to benefit not only the Asian community, but also society at large. AAA hopes to create a unified sense of identity and voice among all Asian by strategically positioning Asian in Auckland to increase capacity for actions and co-operation to meet the challenges ahead. AAA will be “an enabler” to hasten the process for Asians to connect and engage with one another.

Information about Asian Communities in Auckland
At the 2018 Census, over a quarter (28 per cent or 442,674 people) of Auckland residents identified with an Asian ethnicity, a much higher proportion than for New Zealand as a whole at 15 per cent, and higher than recorded at the previous Census (23 per cent in 2013).The largest sub-group were those who identified as Chinese with 171,309 people (38.7% of the Asian ethnic group), followed by those who identified as Indian with 154,824 people (35.0% of the Asian ethnic group). The next are Korean with 35,664 people, Filipino with 32,850 people, and Sri Lankan with 9,987 people. This group includes people who have migrated from overseas as well as those born in New Zealand.
There are hundreds of Asian socities in Auckland. The largest one is Auckland Chinese Community Center, it holds Chinese New Year Festival event for the public annually for over 20 year, mainly to provide a happy, relaxing and enjoyable event for the Auckland community to welcome Chinese New Year. The second largest one is the New Zealand Chinese Association Auckland, it is a branch of New Zealand Chinese Association the national organisation with over 80 years of uninterrupted history, comprising of 14 branches throughout New Zealand and has more than 20,000 members. It represents the interests of both long-established and new Chinese migrant groups. The biggest community charitable trust is Chinese New Settlers Service Trust, it service more than 15,000 local Asian migrants per annum. The biggest Asian network is Asian Network Incorprated, it is focusing on health & wellbeing for Asian New Zealanders. Three united Chinese association are active at Auckland, they are United Chinese Association of New Zealand, Federation of the Chinese Association of New Zealand, and New Zealand Overseas Chinese Union. Although Nepal is a small South Asian country, the New Zealand Nepal Society is very active. It holds Nepal Festival and Multi-Ethnic Dance Festival for the public annually. The New Zealand Asia Association hold Viva Eclectika Intercultural Music and Dance Event every two years, it is New Zealand Diversity Action Program. The Chinese Women Association of New Zealand, Taiwanese Women’s Association of New Zealand and International Women's Association of New Zealand are home of Chinese women in Auckland.
